ARISTIDA meccanaHochst. ex Trin. & Rupr. [family POACEAE], (1842).
Information
Annual up to 35 cm high. Panicle open or contracted, the spikelets clustered at the tips of the branches. Glumes unequal, lanceolate, acute, acuminate or shortly 2-toothed, tipped with a mucro or short awn up to 1 mm long, the lower 3.5–5.5 mm long, the upper 5.5–7 mm long; lemma, including the callus, 5–8 mm long, terete, smooth, narrowed above the middle into a column a little less than half the total length of the lemma, the column articulated at the summit; awns slender, 1.5–2.5 cm long.
