Information
Completely glabrous perennial; tubers enclosed in a hard, crustaceous layer, ovoid to ellipsoid, 0.7–2 x 0.4–1 cm. Leaves ovate to lanceolate-oblong or oblong-elliptic, 4–31 x 1.2–3.5(–5.5) cm, apex acute to acuminate. Peduncle 6–20(–38) cm long in fruit; bracts and bracteoles herbaceous, 0.7–5 cm long. Flowers c. 2.5 cm wide; pedicels 1–4(–5.5) cm long; sepals linear-lanceolate to lanceolate or lanceolate-elliptic, (10–)15–25 mm long; petals elliptic, c. 15–25 x 13–18 mm, white to pale pink or mauve or rarely bluish; stamens with filaments 3–6 mm long, anthers linear-oblong, 3–5 mm long, yellow; staminodes with filaments c. 2 mm long, antherodes c. 1 mm long; ovary 2.5–4 mm long, style nearly straight, 3–4.5 mm long. Capsules oblong-lanceolate to linear-oblong, 20–30(–35) x 2–3(–4) mm, brown. Seeds transversely oblong, c. 1 mm long, 1.5–3 mm wide, testa smooth, brown to grey, hilum raised within an oblong pit.
