Information
Trees or shrubs up to 12 m. high. First year branches covered in golden-brown indumentum. Leaf-blade lanceolate, 5–12 cm. long, 1.5–5 cm. wide, acuminate to acute, sometimes with small mucro, rounded to cuneate at the base, membranous, ± densely strigose with golden-brown hairs, the overall appearance bicolorous, dark green above, yellow-green beneath, with (4–) 6–8 (–9) pairs of secondary veins prominent on both surfaces; petiole 2–8 mm. long. Flowers in lax panicles; peduncle very long (1.5–2.8 cm.), densely tomentose; bracts small, ± linear-lanceolate; pedicels 5–11 mm. long. Sepals united at the base, lanceolate, persistent, densely tomentose to villous outside. Petals yellowish, lanceolate, 4–5 mm. long, glabrous within and with a few scattered hairs mainly on midvein outside. Stamens free; filaments under 1 mm. long; anthers sagittate. Ovary subcorneal, densely hirsute; style filiform, up to 4 mm. long; stigma capitate. Fruit ellipsoid, slightly compressed, up to 2.2 cm. long and 1.5 cm. across, beaked at apex, ± pubescent, orange-red; pedicel elongating up to 2 cm.; endocarp woody, up to 1.5 cm. long and 1.0 cm. across, irregularly ridged longitudinally.
