Information
stems diffuse, ascending or erect, with a line of hairs along one side; leaves with ciliate petioles, ovate, acute, quite glabrous, the upper ones sessile; flowers solitary, axillary and terminal; pedicels long, pubescent; petals as long as the calyx or shorter. Annual. Stems terete, 3–12 inches long. Petals sometimes minute or altogether deficient. Stamens 3–4, often 5, rarely 10.
Distribution
SOUTH AFRICA A weed in cultivated ground, everywhere; introduced from Europe.—“ Chickweed .”
