Information
Perennials with decumbent to prostrate stems up to 0,15 m long, little branched, with fibrous roots. Leaves obovate to oblanceolate, (25-)30-70(-100) x (15-)20-35(-40) mm, usually abruptly cuÂneate but rarely subpetiolate, rounded or obtuse and often mucronate, dorsiventrally flattened and with horny margin right around leaf, green, grey-green to greyish brown and usually with dark purple spots. Inflorescence a thyrse with l(-2)-flowered cymes, 0,2-0,35 m long, grey-green; pediÂcels (l-)2-3(-4) mm long. Buds terete, gradually tapering towards apex, spreading. Calyx 1,5-2,5 mm long, grey-green. Corolla with cylindrical tube 8-11 mm long, pale yellowish green; lobes lanceolate-triangular, 2,5-5 mm long, acute, rough and with club-shaped trichomes mainly around throat, white or tinged pale pink with mauve marÂgins. Anthers included. Squamae oblong, rarely almost square, 1—1,3 x 0,8-1 mm, emarginate, slightly broadening towards base. Fig. 4:4.
Habitat
Although this species is locally common and someÂtimes very attractive, only a few records of it have been collected, possibly, because it grows at fairly high altiÂtudes. A. triflorus (no. 18), which is usually found on the lower slopes is well represented in herbaria.
