Information
Flowers probably always occurring before the leaves direct from the woody rootstock but inflorescences can be found on leafy shoots. Leaflets glabrous or slightly pubescent beneath. Corolla pink or purple, very rarely white. Pods often shorter than in subsp. bussei.
Habitat
Brachystegia woodland often with Monotes, Isoberlinia and Hymenocardia, semi-chipya woodland, chipya and dry grasslands, after burns
