Information
Main branches up to 2–5 m., erect or slightly curved. Thorns 0.4–2.5 cm., erecto-patent, mostly much shorter than the internodes. Inflorescences on short-shoots terminal and in the axils of thorns on the apical part of the branches. Male flowers including the 7–10 mm. long stipe 19–30 mm.; hypanthium 6–12 mm.; sepals 6–9 mm.; petals 2.5–6 by 1.5–2.5 mm.; filaments inserted 3.5–7 mm. above the base of the hypanthium, (2.5–)4–6 mm., connate up to 0.5 mm.; anthers 4–6.5 mm.; disk glands 0.7– 1 mm. Female flowers including the 1–1.5 mm. long stipe 10–12 mm.; hypanthium 3–4 mm.; sepals 6–7 mm.; petals 2–3 by 0.7–1 mm.; staminodes inserted in the hypanthium 0.5–1 mm. above the base, 2–3.5 mm.; disk glands 0.5 mm.; pistil 7–8 mm.; ovary 3.5–4.5 by 2.5–3 mm.; ovules 5–9 per placenta. Fruit excluding the 1–2 mm. long gynophore 2–2.8 cm. Seeds 15–25 per capsule.
