Names
ACROSPIRA asphodeloides Welw. ex Baker [family ], in Trans. Linn. Soc. ser. 2, Bot. i. 255, t. 34, figs. 4–7.
Information
Rootstock thick, oblique; root-fibres many, slender. Leaves 5–6 in a radical rosette, firm, ensiform, glabrous, 2–3 ft. long, 1–1 1/4 in. broad low down. Peduncle very long, furnished with many reduced leaves. Racemes 1–1 1/2 ft. long; simple or furnished with 1–2 short branches at the base; lower flowers 3–4 in a cluster; pedicels short, unequal; bracts small, ovate. Perianth white, 9–10 lin. long; segments 1/12 in. broad. Anthers yellow, 3/8– 1/2 in. long.
Distribution
Angola Lower Guinea Pungo Andongo; frequent on high rocky ground, Welwitsch, 3777! 3778! 3779!
