Notes
Asaso, melhedo, milhedo, waba, wabi, wob (Som., the plant), ouabajo, wa´abah, wabajo (Som., the poison).A potent arrow-poison is prepared from the roots. The name A. deflersii has sometimes been attributed to Lewin (1893), but it is clearly stated in Lewin´s paper that the brief description was provided by Schweinfurth. Also A. ouabaio, again with a brief description by Schweinfurth, is here regarded as validly published in 1893. The name A. wabajo proposed in 1923 by Markgraf, who cited Schweinfurth´s type of A. ouabaio, therefore is illegitimate.
