Information
Perennial herb, up to 1 m tall; all parts densely pubescent and also with short curled glandular hairs and numerous long simple hairs. Leaves with 1–6.5 cm long petiole; blade ovate to suborbicular, up to 10 x 9 cm, cordate at the base, acuminate to acute at the apex, with sharply dentate margins. Flowers in leaf axils; pedicels 1.5–4.5 cm long. Calyx 8–12(–15) mm long, ± densely pilose. Petals 10–20 mm long, yellow to orange. Staminal column with stellate hairs apically on expanded part and with bands running down to sinuses between the petals, otherwise glabrous. Mericarps c. 20–25, 7–12 x 4–7 mm, (1–)3-seeded, dorsal corner with a small tooth or an up to 1 mm long awn, often remaining attached to the receptacle. Seeds c. 2.5 mm long, with simple hairs on distinct papillae.
