Names
ABUTILON figarianum Webb [family MALVACEAE], (1854).
ABUTILON webbianum Mattei [family MALVACEAE], (1915);. types from Egypt and S2, near “Brava”, Mangano s.n. (FT syn.).
Information
Shrubby herb or subshrub, up to 1.5 m or more tall; all parts tomentose, sometimes also with long simple hairs. Leaves with 1–14 cm long petiole; stipules c. 1.5–3 mm wide; blade ovate to suborbicular, up to 14.5 x 11.5 cm, cordate at the base, acuminate to rounded at the apex, with denticulate to dentate margins. Flowers in narrow panicles; pedicels 0.5–4 cm long. Calyx 6–12 mm long. Petals 8–17 mm long, yellow to orange. Mericarps 16–30, 6–9 x 4–7 mm, (2–)3-seeded, dorsal corner rounded or slightly angular. Seeds c. 2.5 mm long, with stellate hairs.

C2; S1, 2 Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan and westwards to West Africa,

50–350 m.
