Information Erect shrublet or perennial herb; branchlets subpatent-stellate-setulose. Leaf-lamina up to 3 × 2·5 cm. (and probably larger), ovate, stellate-setulose above, stellate-hispidulous below, apex acute, margin rather coarsely serrate (for the size of the lamina), base obtuse to truncate 5-nerved; petiole up to 11 mm. long; stipules 4 mm. long. Flowers 1·5–2 cm. in diam., white, fading to red, in 2–5-flowered cymose inflorescences, axillary; peduncle up to 1 cm. long, rather inconspicuously articulated near the apex. Epicalyx of 7–9 bracts; bracts 2·5–4·5 mm. long, subulate to filiform. Calyx 6–8 mm. long; lobes 4–6 × 1·5–2 mm., ovate-lanceolate to elongate-triangular, slightly joined at the base. Petals 12–15 mm. long, obovate, sparsely stellate outside, glabrous inside. Staminal tube 6 mm. long; free parts of filaments 0·5 mm. long, ± in 4 whorls. Style-branches 5 mm. long. Capsule 8 × 9 mm., subglobose, pubescent. Seeds immature, probably producing a floss.
