Notes
P. pentasiana was treated as a synonym of P. longituba by Verdcourt in Bull. Jard. Bot. Brux. 22: 277 (1952) and in Fl. Trop. E. Afr. (1976). The type is now much damaged by insects, but in my opinion it is conspecific with P. ouranogyne. Several collections of typical P. ouranogyne are known from near the type locality of P. pentasiana in S3, whilst P. longituba is not known at all from southern Somalia. Also, the flowers were described as “intense coerulea”, which agrees with P. ouranogyne but scarcely with P. longituba. The same conclusion was reached by Puff in Mitt.Inst. Allg. Bot.Hamburg 23b: 819 (1990).
