Names
TAMARIX aphylla(L.) Karst. [family TAMARICACEAE], (1882). Fig. 114 H.
Information
Shrub or tree up to 10 m tall. Smaller branchlets articulated and with leaves reduced to a minutely apiculate sheathing base; larger branchlets with scale-like leaves. Racemes 4–8 cm long, 5–7 mm in diam. Flowers subsessile, white to pink. Sepals 5, suborbicular, c. 1 mm long. Petals 5, c. 3 mm long. Stamens 5. Seeds c. 0.5 mm long, with apical tuft of hairs.
Range
C2; S1, 2 Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya, N Africa, Arabia and eastwards to Pakistan.
