Information
Annual or monocarpic, shortly perennial herb, up to 80 cm high. Stem branched from the base or unbranched, many-noded. Leaves ovate-orbicular to subreniform, 4–25 mm long, 5–21 mm wide, obtuse to shortly apiculate, amplexicaul, cordate at the base, 5 distinct nerves beneath. Inflorescences terminal, few- to many-flowered distinctly dichasial cymes; pedicels (1–)3.5–5 mm long; bracts broadly ovate to elliptic, acute. Flowers 5-merous, orange-yellow. Calyx lobes lanceolate to elliptic, 6.4–11.2 mm long, ± 6 mm wide, unequal, 3 wider and longer than remaining 2, acute, margin hyaline, calyx wings wider at or above the middle, shortly decurrent on pedicel with colleters at the base. Corolla tube 5.6–6.8 mm long; lobes narrowly obovate to lanceolate, 5.5–6(–7) mm long, 2–3 mm wide, obtuse. Filaments inserted in the sinuses of the corolla lobes, 1.3–2 mm long; anthers 1–1.8 mm long, with a minute stipitate apical gland, with or without two minute basal glands. Ovary ellipsoid, 2–3.2 mm long, 1.5–1.8(–2) mm diameter; style 4–7 mm long, with or without a swelling just at the base or at the middle, the swelling placed 0.5–1.3 mm from the base of the style; stigma capitate or clavate, bilobed, 0.6 mm long, 0.3 mm diameter. Capsule ellipsoid, 4.8 mm long, 2.5 mm wide. Seeds numerous, 0.3–0.5 mm in length, surface with continuous ridge-like outgrowths.
