Slender-stemmed woody climber up to 3 m. tall with densely lenticellate, glabrous branches. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets 6–9 x 2.5–3.5 cm., elliptic, apiculate-acuminate at the apex, acute at the base, glabrous on both sides, midrib prominent below, nerves 5–7, rather prominent above, more so below; petiole slender, up to 5 cm. long; petiolules c. 3 mm. long. Inflorescence of axillary racemes with 3–6 flowers; pedicels 2.5–3 cm. long, glabrous; basal bracteoles minute, c. 1 mm. long, subulate. Sepals 3.0 x 0.7–0.9 cm., narrowly and sometimes obliquely lanceolate, apex acuminate, margin minutely pubescent. Petals 4, greenish-yellow, up to 3.0 x 0.2 cm., narrowly linear-lanceolate. Stamens numerous; filaments up to 2.5 cm. long, glabrous; anthers 4 x 0.8 mm., arcuate. linear. Ovary 5 x 1.2 mm. on a glabrous gynophore up to 2.5 cm. long, narrowly ellipsoid, glabrous. Fruit up to 4 x 1.0 cm. (? not quite mature), green and glossy, narrowly ellipsoid, papillose-verrucose, narrowed to a blunt apex, 4-valved. Seeds c. 5 mm. in diam., subglobose, embedded in a somewhat fleshy pulp.
