stems 12–18 in. high, cæspitose, erect, filiform, olivaceous, with white tubercles; leaf-sheaths about 1/2 in. long, closely convolute, coriaceous, striate, membranous above, filaceo-mucronate; male spikelets 3–5 approximate, 2–3 lin. long, erect, oblong, obtuse; spathe ovate-lanceolate, as long as the spikelet; bracts oblong, obtuse, muticous; perianth-segments oblong, obtuse; lateral conduplicate, villous-carinate; inner hyaline, united at the base; pistillodium minute; female plant like the male; ovary trigonous, surrounded by 3 staminodes. null
