Information
stem erect, simple below, corymbose above, silky-villous; leaves (especially the younger) on both sides densely silky-villous, cordate-amplexicaul at base, oblongo-lanceolate, callous-mucronate and calloso-serrulate; invol.-scales linear-acuminate, loosely imbricate, very villous; ray-fl. narrow-ligulate, slightly longer than the involucre, 3-toothed; achenes thinly pubescent; outer pappus 10-toothed, inner of about 16 setæ. One to 2 ft. high, robust, the villosity sometimes much less copious. Leaves 1–2 1/2 inches long, 1/4– 1/2 inch wide. Corymbs few or many-headed. Except in being more slender and less hairy β. does not differ.
