Notes
Extremely variable in habit and leaf-shape, but always with all stems with normal spirally arranged leaves. Somali material is easily divided into two groups: one widespread, varying from ephemeral to dense woody shrublets (perhaps in response to browsing) with narrow leaves, (1.5–)1.7–3.5(–4.2) mm wide, with obscure venation and few or no papillae; the other a sprawling shrublet with the lower leaves much larger than the upper, (5.5–)7–12 mm wide, and with distinctly papillose veins and margins (e.g. Alstrup & Michelsen 5, Elmi 473, Thulin & Bashir Mohamed 6817). The second form is found at 60–230 m in C2, S1 and S2.
