Small to medium-sized tree, height up to 25 m.; branchlets glabrous; terminal bud and very young shoots with resinous exudate. Petioles robust, 1.5–4 cm. long, glabrous. Leaf-lamina elliptic or elliptic-oblong to obovate-oblong, 10–29 cm. long, 3.5–9.5 cm. wide, coriaceous, apex rounded to emarginate, sometimes shortly acuminate, cuneate; upper surface dark green and glabrous with raised lateral nerves and vein reticulum, lower surface silvery-grey or whitish with indumentum of very small closely appressed regularly arranged hairs, with (16-) 18–22 raised and very prominent primary lateral nerves on each side. Young flower-buds with resinous exudate. Flowers fascicled in axils of current or recently fallen leaves, usually 6–8 per axil. Pedicels 2–6 mm. long, stout, with dense pale brown indumentum. Calyx-lobes fused for ± 2 mm. at base; outer lobes elliptic-oblong, up to 8 mm. long, 4 mm. wide, with dense pale silvery-green indumentum externally; inner lobes smaller and less hairy. Corolla white or greenish-white; tube cylindrical, up to 6 mm. long; lobes trifid; outer segments linear-oblong, up to 5 mm. long; median segment spathulate, 6 mm. long. Filaments up to 5 mm. long; anthers up to 2.5 mm. long; staminodes narrowly ligulate, up to 4 mm. long, apex laciniate with 2 (or sometimes more) long delicate processes. Ovary subglobose; style long and tapering, up to 1.4 cm. long, glabrescent; stigma simple. Young fruits with short thick pedicels, subglobose, with very short pale mealy indumentum rubbing off with age; style persistent, conspicuous. Mature fruits not seen.
