twigs short, pubescent; leaves scattered, erect, the uppermost imbricate, lanceolate-acute, flattish above, glabrous, keeled beneath, triquetrous at the point, with a short pubescence; flowers umbellate-capitate; petals longer than the calyx, bearded in the middle. 6–12 inches high, sub-decumbent, grey. Branches mostly aggregate, twigs leafy, 1–2 uncial. Leaves close, lanceolate, rarely linear-lanceolate, very entire, nerve-keeled, punctate, sub-glaucous, 4–6 lines long, shorter on the twigs. Flowers terminal, 8–10 together, on very short pedicels. Calyx glabrous, its lobes obtuse, ciliolate. Petals 2 lines long. Capsule glabrous, 5 lines long, of 3–5 round-backed carpels; the beaks 1 line long, recurved at point.
