Annual herb; stems many, twining, up to 1.5 m. long, hairy. Leaf-blade ovate or ovate-oblong, up to 8 cm. long and 6 cm. wide, acute and mucronateat the apex, widely cordate or cordate-sagittate at the base, hairy to glabrous (Fig. 22/3, p. 102); petiole 6–10 cm. long, hairy. Inflorescence hairy, 1–several-flowered; peduncle 7–8.5 cm. long; pedicels 2.5–3 cm. long; bracts small, linear, 4 mm. long. Sepals linear, acute, from a hastate base, pubescent or margins setose; apex 6–11 × 1.5 mm., base about 2 × 4–6 mm. Corolla white with purple centre or entirely mauve, broadly funnel-shaped; tube narrow, puberulous, 3–5 cm. long; limb 5.5–6.5 cm. in diameter. Capsule globose, 7 mm. in diameter, tipped with indurated style base. Seeds ovoid, subtrigonous, finely adpressed pubescent, 2.8 × 3.2 mm.
