Information
is recognised by its lax, terminal leafy inflorescences, sometimes with flowers in the axils of leaves e.g. Zimbabwe, Harare, fl. 8.i.1971, Biegel 3448 (K; SRGH); Bulawayo, Memorial Hospital, comm. 2.iii.1938, Hislop H. 445/38 (K); Mozambique, Maputo, Jardim Tunduru (Jardim Vasco de Gama), fl. 29.vii.1972, Balsinhas 2431 (K). The leaves of E. crista-galli are narrower than those of the other species of Erythrina in the Flora Zambesiaca area, being ovate to lanceolate in outline. All measurements of floral parts have been taken from flowers from the base of an inflorescence.
