An erect shrub 6–7 ft. high, with sulcate stiff persistently grey-downy branches. Stipules linear, 1/4 in. Petioles downy, erecto-patent, 1 1/2–2 in.; leaflets 3, subcoriaceous, glabrescent above, persistently thinly grey-canescent beneath, the end one rotundate-deltoid, 3–4 in. long and broad, bluntish with a mucro; petiolule 9–12 lines; lateral very unequal-sided. Flowers in ample terminal panicles, with dense-flowered erecto-patent racemose branches. Pedicels very silky, 1/8 in. Calyx 2 lines, finely grey-silky; upper lip truncate; 3 lower teeth deltoid, very short. Corolla red, 1/2 in. long. Ovary linear, densely grey-velvety, multiovulate; style 1/4 in., twisted at base. Pod not seen.
