Information
Shrub up to 4 m. tall; young branches minutely puberulous, soon glabrous; bark smooth, greyish or yellowish-green. Leaves alternate or in fascicles of 2–4; lamina 1.2–3.4 x 0.5–0.8 cm., oblanceolate to narrowly obovate, apex rounded, sometimes emarginate, apiculate, narrowed to a cuneate or narrowly rounded base, glabrous on both sides, somewhat shining above, dull below, midrib prominent, veins and nerves scarcely visible; petiole 1–2 mm. long, puberulous or glabrescent, Inflorescence of very short axillary racemes or rarely reduced to axillary fascicles; peduncle up to 4 mm. long, puberulous; bracteoles 1 mm. long, filamentous, puberulous; pedicels up to 7 mm. long, puberulous. Sepals 2.5–3 x 1.3 mm., oblong-lanceolate, apex subacute, puberulous outside and with longer hairs within; receptacle divided into c. 12 digitately divided segments. Stamens 6–8; filaments 4 mm. long, glabrous. Gynophore c. 1.3 mm. long, pubescent; ovary ovoid, glabrous; ovules c. 8 on 2 placentas; style 0.3 mm. long, glabrous; stigma sub-capitate, scarcely wider than the style. Fruit up to 1 cm. in diam., globose, very closely and densely velvety-brown-pubescent. Seeds brown, usually single, sub-globose, 5–6 mm. in diam.; testa rugose.
