Information
Shortly rhizomatous mat-forming perennial up to 60 cm high; leaves 3–10 cm x 1–4 mm, flat, glaucous. Racemes paired (rarely more), 3–7 cm long, terminal; internodes and pedicels filiform to linear, ciliate. Sessile spikelet 6.5–11 mm long including the 1 mm long callus; lower glume linear to narrowly lanceolate, slightly convex on the back and usually with a nerveless median depression, thinly coriaceous with herbaceous or membranous tip, 4- to 10-nerved between the keels, glabrous, sharply 2-toothed at the tip; keels lateral, narrowly winged; upper glume with an awn 0.5–4 mm long; upper lemma bilobed to halfway, with an awn 14–20 mm long. Pedicelled spikelet 5.5–10 mm long; lower glume narrowly lanceolate, acute to acuminate, awnless (the upper glume also awnless).
