Plant from a very short rhizome, with fleshy roots. Leaves linear, c. 10 mm wide, ciliate to obscurely papillose along margins. Inflorescence several-flowered, often with 1–3 basal branches; bracts small, white, membranous; pedicels spreading, up to c. 18 mm long. Tepals white with green 3-veined median stripe, c. 8 mm long. Capsule transversely veined and warty. Seeds angular, c. 2.4 mm across.

Notes
Of the three original syntypes of A. verruciferum Paoli 1068 is conspecific with A. jamesii, while Paoli 942 and 1254 both are Chlorophytum bifolium Dammer. Also the plate published for A. verruciferum by Chiovenda in Result. Scient. Miss. Stefanini-Paoli: Pl. 19 B (1916) is C. bifolium.
