Plant 35–200 cm, usually robust. Leaves lanceolate, 20–50 x 2–7.5 cm. Inflorescence a dense raceme up to 80 cm long with up to 700 flowers; bracts up to 14 mm long with spur up to 3 mm long; pedicels 8–30 mm long, spreading. Tepals free or united for up to 2 mm, 5–12 mm long, whitish with dark midnerve outside, spreading. Filaments linear to very narrowly triangular, free or basally united to tepals. Ovary ovoid, 2–5 mm long; style about as long as ovary. Capsule subglobose, 8–15 mm long. Seeds 5–8 mm long.

Plants usually tall and robust, 35-200 cm., usually flowering before the leaves. Leaves lanceolate, 20-50 cm. long, 2-7.5 cm. wide. Scape erect, up to 1 cm. in diameter. Inflorescence a ± dense raceme up to 80 cm. long with up to 700 flowers; bracts up to 14 mm. long, spurs up to 3 mm.; pedicels 8-30 mm. long, spreading. Perianth-segments free or united up to 2 mm., 5-11 mm. long, white or greenish white with a green or purple abaxial band. Filaments linear to slightly triangular, free or united with the perianth-segments, free part 4-7 mm. Ovary ovoid, ± 2-5 mm; style ± as long as the ovary. Capsule subglobose, sometimes with an emarginate apex, 8-15 mm. high, 9-15 mm. in diameter. Seeds semicircular, 5-8 mm. long.
