A genus of 3 species in tropical Africa, with 1 occurring in the Flora Zambesiaca area.
Epiphytic monopodial herbs; stems short, leafy; roots arising at stem base.Leaves distichous, conduplicate, linear or ligulate.Inflorescences arising in leaf axils, many-flowered.Flowers rather fleshy, white or creamy-yellow.Sepals and petals subsimilar.Lip entire, concave, clasping the column, spurred at the base.Column short, stout; androclinium transverse; anther convex; pollinia 2; stipes 1, short; viscidium slipper-shaped; rostellum 3-lobed, mid-lobe acute, lateral lobes obscure.

Epiphytic herb, occasionally lithophytic; stem short, c. 2.5 cm long.Roots stout, up to c. 6 mm in diameter, arising at base of stem.Leaves 3–7, distichous; lamina up to c. 14 × 1.5 cm, linear, conduplicate, arching, obscurely 2-lobed at the apex, thick-textured, rather yellow-green.Inflorescences 1–2, arising from lower leaf axils, erect or arching downwards, 12–15 cm long, 4–5-flowered, the terminal flower opening first.Peduncle c. 8 cm long, with 4 or 5 tight black sheaths.Pedicel and ovary 2 cm long, twisted where it leaves the rhachis.Flowers non resupinate, fleshy, set 2–4 cm apart, creamy-yellow; ovary and outside of floral parts scattered with sparse, short rusty-coloured hairs.Dorsal sepal 13–14 × 6 mm, ovate, convex; lateral sepals 12–13 × 6 mm, obliquely ovate, with a decurrent wing on the lower side by which they are joined for c. 4 mm between the spur and the pedicel.Petals 11–12 × 4.8–5.5 mm, ovate, acute, spreading.Lip 11–12 × 5.5–6 mm, entire, very concave, boat-shaped, acute, fleshy; spur 16–20 mm long and c. 2 mm in diameter, very slender, pendent, straight.Column 3 mm long; viscidium slipper-shaped, fitting over the mid-lobe of the rostellum.Capsule c. 3 cm long, ellipsoid.
