Rhizome very shortly creeping, with very narrowly lanceolate somewhat curved scales 3–4 mm long, either with dark centre and paler margins or entirely pale, ± longitudinally ribbed; roots with dark shiny setiform hairs. Fronds 3 remaining but probably up to 7, tufted, 13–16 cm tall; stipes relatively broad, ± 2.5 mm in diameter, dark brown, covered with dense mostly appressed upwardly directed brown hairs; rhachis similar; lamina pale green, oblong, 4–7 cm long, 4.5–6 cm wide, simply pinnate; pinnae in 8–10 pairs, oblong-lanceolate, 1.8–3.5 cm long, 4–7.5 mm wide, separated from each other by 2–5(–8) mm, narrowed to a subacute or ± rounded apex, distinctly cordate at base, with pale hairs having brown joints scattered on the under surface and also a few above on the midrib; basal part of midrib dark beneath for 5–6 mm and stalklets 1–2 mm long, both hairy like the rhachis; venation entirely free but not visible without strong transmitted light. Sori in marginal line and with a continuous pale membranous reflexed indusium.
