Information A shrub or small tree, 10 ft. high; branchlets glabrous. Leaves 5–13 in. long; leaflets 7, elliptic-oblong, long acuminate, mucronulate, 1 1/2–6 in. long, 3/4–2 1/2 in. broad, entire or serrulate, especially towards the apex, coriaceous, brownish when dry, glabrous above, minutely lepidote below. Racemes terminal and lateral, lepidote; rhachis conspicuously lenticellate. Peduncles 4 lin. long; pedicels 2–4 lin. long. Calyx 6–7 lin. long, shortly uncinate, split down to within 1–4 lin. from the base, lepidote, sometimes puberulous. Corolla-tube funnel-shaped, 11–12 lin. long, yellowish with purple spots; basal cylindric portion 3–4 1/2 lin. long, 1–1 1/4 lin. in diam.; lobes brownish-purple, 4–5 lin. long. Stamens inserted 4–5 lin. above the base of the corolla-tube; anther-lobes 1 lin. long, acute at the base. Disc annular, 2/3 lin. high. Ovary 2–2 1/3 lin. long, densely lepidote. Capsule falcate, 1–1 1/2 ft. long, 5–6 lin. broad, lenticellate; seeds 1–1 2/3 in. long, 2 1/3–2 1/2 lin. broad; nucleus 5–6 lin. long.

Information Tree or shrub, up to 10 m tall; branchlets with conspicuous lenticels. Pseudostipules subcircular to obcordate, 0.5–1 cm in diam. Leaves up to 25 cm long; petiole 3–6 cm long; leaflets 3–7, sessile or with petiolule up to 5 mm long; blade of leaflets elliptic-obovate to ovate-subcircular, slightly asymmetric at the base, cuspidate to retuse at the apex, with entire to serrate margin, apical leaflet up to 10 x 8 cm, the lateral ones decreasing in size towards the base of the leaves, 2.5–6 x 2–3 cm, with 5–6 pairs of lateral nerves, impressed above and prominent below, lower surface with domatiae and sometimes scattered circular black glands. Panicles 5–20 cm long; pedicels up to 1.5(–2) cm long, with 2 bracts below the middle. Calyx 10–15 mm long, splitting at one side. Corolla yellow-greenish flecked with maroon; tube 20–30 mm long; lobes subcircular, 10–15 mm in diam. Stamen-filaments 7–14 mm long; anther-thecae c. 1.5 mm long. Disk 1–3 mm in diam. Style 10–25 mm long. Capsule 20–60 x 0.9–1.5 cm, straight or slightly curved. Seeds 4–6 x 20–40 mm including the wing.

Information Shrub or much branched small tree, 2.4–9(?–15) m tall, readily regenerating after cutting; bark pale grey, smooth or rough, peeling; young branches usually lenticellate, minutely scaly. Leaves up to 35 cm long; leaflets 1–4-jugate or rarely reduced to the terminal leaflet, elliptic, elliptic-lanceolate, obovate, ovate or almost round, 2–25(–33)≈2–13 cm, acute to long-acuminate or obtuse to rounded at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base, almost entire to toothed or rarely almost lobed, glabrous in typical coastal specimens save for pubescent axillary domatia usually present beneath, pubescent to densely velvety in (mostly) inland material, densely to sparsely lepidote; petiole 2–7(–9) cm long, sometimes together with rhachis faintly winged; petiolules 0–5 mm long; pseudostipules if present rounded to reniform, 0.5–2.5 cm long and wide. Flowers in terminal or axillary rather narrow lepidote panicles 2–11(–30) cm long; secondary peduncles up to 1 cm long, pedicels 0.5–1.5(–2) cm long with bracts 2–5(–7) mm long. Calyx 1–1.5 cm long, rounded, cuspidate or uncinate at the apex, split to about 8 mm from base, usually glabrous but densely hairy in some variants. Corolla yellow-green to yellow, the tube ± densely speckled with liver red or reddish purple spots and blotches and the lobes dull brown to reddish purple inside and speckled outside (often mostly purplish or brown with reduced yellow markings); tube campanulate to funnel-shaped, (1.8–)2–3(–4) cm long, limb ± 2–lipped, 5-lobed, the lobes rounded, 1–1.5 cm long and wide; discoid glands present at top of tube and on the lobes, probably greenish in life but dark when dry. Capsule straight or curved, 14–72≈0.9–1.8 cm, glabrous, usually with very conspicuous whitish lenticels; seeds 2–4 cm long, 4–6 mm wide including wing.
