Young branches divaricate, densely tomentose, with very short internodes. Leaves subreniform or transversely oblong-elliptic, cordate at the base, 1–1 1/2 in. long, 1–2 1/4 in. broad, entire or with undulate-crenate margins, rigidly coriaceous, softly tomentose on both surfaces, prominently 5–7-nerved at the base, remaining lateral nerves about 3 on each side of the midrib, diverging from it at an angle of 45°–60°, distinct on both surfaces, more prominent below, bifurcate some distance from the margin; veins finely reticulate beneath the indumentum; petiole 1/2– 3/4 in. long, terete, 3/4–1 lin. thick, densely pubescent; stipules caducous, those surrounding the terminal bud broadly ovate, 1/4 in. long, the outer whitish-pilose. Receptacles all detached in the solitary specimen examined but probably borne in the axils of fallen leaves just below the young annual shoots, pedunculate, slightly depressed-globose, just over 1/2 in. in diam., densely and softly pilose-tomentose with whitish hairs; peduncle 3–5 lin. long, about 3/4 lin. thick, densely whitish-pubescent. Basal bracts deciduous, membranous towards the margin, leaving a pubescent disc-like body closely appressed to the receptacle. Ostiole small and inconspicuous; bracts few, all pointing into the receptacle. Male flowers shortly pedicellate: perianth-segments ovate-lanceolate, subacute, glabrous. Stamen solitary; filament short and stout; anther ovoid. Female flowers subsessile; achene ovoid, with rather slender style and large stigma. Gall flowers pedicellate.

Shrub. Leafy twigs 2.5–3 mm. thick, densely white puberulous, when dry red-brown, periderm not flaking off. Leaves spirally arranged; lamina ovate, 4.5–9.5 x 3–5 cm., subcoriaceous; apex acute to ± faintly acuminate; base cordate; margin entire; superior surface sparsely puberulous, the midrib more densely so, inferior surface puberulous on the midrib, hirtellous on the lateral veins, tomentose on the smaller veins; venation above obscure, beneath prominent, lateral veins 5–8 pairs, the basal pair branched, ending at the margin just below or at the middle of the lamina, tertiary venation reticulate; petiole (1.2)3.5–5.5 cm. long, epidermis not flaking off; stipules 1–1.5 cm. long, minutely puberulous, caducous. Figs in pairs in the leaf axils, subsessile; basal bracts 2,1.5–2 mm. long, persistent. Receptacle subglobose, c. 5 mm. in diam. when dry, densely white-puberulous.

Tree up to 6 m. tall, or shrub, mostly epilithic; bark of the trunk orange-yellow. Leafy twigs 2–6 mm. thick, white hirtellous to pubescent, periderm of older parts flaking off when dry. Leaves spirally arranged; lamina subreniform to cordate, 1.5–11.5 x 2–12 cm., subcoriaceous; apex short acuminate or subacute to rounded; base cordate; margin subentire or irregularly crenate; superior surface ± densely hirtellous to pubescent, often somewhat scabrous, inferior surface hirtellous, subtomentose on the veins; venation prominent beneath, lateral veins 3–5(6) pairs, the basal pair branched, ending at the margin above the middle of the lamina; tertiary venation reticulate orpartly scalariform; petiole 0.5–3(5.5) cm. long, 1–2 mm. thick, epidermis not flaking off; stipules 2–6 mm. long, almost as wide as long, apex rounded, white to brownish pubescent, caducous. Figs in the leaf axils, subsessile or on peduncles up to 2 mm. long, basal bracts 2–3 mm. long, caducous. Receptacle subglobose, 0.5–1 cm. in diam. when dry, densely white puberulous to hirtellous.

Tree up to 15 m. tall, terrestrial, often (hemi-)epilithic. Leafy twigs 6–15 mm. thick, glabrous or yellowish to whitish-tomentose or puberulous, periderm often flaking off when dry. Leaves spirally arranged; lamina cordate to broadly ovate or subreniform, 6–19 x 5–20 cm., subcoriaceous; apex shortly acuminate to subacute or obtuse to rounded; base cordate; margin entire; superior surface glabrous or with sparse hairs on the main veins, inferior surface puberulous to subtomentellous, sometimes indumentum only in the axils of the lateral veins, occasionally glabrous; lateral veins 7–9 pairs, the basal pair branched, ending at the margin at or above the middle of the lamina, tertiary venation partly scalariform; petiole 2–10(18) cm. long, 2–4 mm. thick, epidermis not flaking off; stipules 5–20 mm. long, puberulous or glabrous, caducous. Figs in pairs, or sometimes up to 4 together, in the leaf axils or just below the leaves, pedunculate or subsessile; peduncle 3–15 mm. long; basal bracts (2)2.5–3.5 mm. long, persistent, free parts occasionally caducous, leaving a collar-like rim. Receptacle subglobose, obovoid or ellipsoid, 12–20 mm. in diam. when fresh, 5–15 mm. in diam. when dry, sparsely, minutely puberulous, reddish or yellow at maturity.
