Rhizome c. 5 mm. in diam., short, creeping, with tufted fronds and with narrowly linear attenuate entire concolorous reddish-brown rhizome-scales up to 1.4cm. long. Stipe terete, atrocastaneous, thinly pubescent when young with short white hairs or ferrugineous scales similar to those on the rhizome at the base. Frond erect, herbaceous to coriaceous. Lamina up to 22 x 11 cm., narrowly oblong to ovate-deltate in outline (deltate in juveniles) 2-pinnate towards the apex, 3-pinnatifid at the base, not decrescent below; pinnae narrowly to broadly, unequally to almost equally deltate, lower pinnae usually much developed basiscopically; pinna segments oblong to very narrowly oblong, subentire, crenate or pinnatifid, obtuse, pilose to densely tomentose on the dorsal surface with long soft hairs, white at first, becoming ferrugineous with age; ventral surface thinly pubescent or pilose, becoming subglabrous with age or not; rhachis terete, atrocastaneous, thinly pubescent at first, later becoming glabrous, secondary rhachises atrocastaneous on the dorsal surface. Sori marginal discrete but forming a continuous soral line at maturity; indusium continuous or irregularly discontinuous, narrow, ciliate, membranous.
