Known only from the Chimanimani Mts. area bordering Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
Stems erect to slightly spreading. Leaves erect, 7–15 mm broad, lightly spotted towards the base and copiously spotted on the sheath; hyaline margin very narrow, with teeth obvious towards the base and around the bluntly obtuse apex, often obsolete between. Inflorescence erect; raceme 5–10 cm long, cylindric.

Known only from the Zimbabwe/Mozambique border region of the Chimanimani Mountains, and recorded from the Mozambique side (Kimberley, loc. cit. 225 (1990))
Stems pendent. Leaves pendent, 12–20 mm broad, without spots, or with a few scattered spots at the base of the lower surface; hyaline margin up to 1.5 mm wide, with teeth very obscure, usually only towards the base and sometimes at the rounded apex. Inflorescence curving upwards from the pendent stem; raceme erect, 4–5 cm long, subcapitate.

Perennial herb, suckering to produce a cluster of several stems, erect to 50 cm high, or pendent to 75 cm long and up to 2 cm thick. Leaves distichous, laxly crowded at the stem apices, erect, spreading or pendent, 15–20 × 1–2 cm, linear, 10–15 mm apart at the sheathing bases, slightly channelled on the upper surface, very fleshy, greyish-green, white-spotted on the basal half of the lower surface; margins with a hyaline border and minute whitish teeth to 5 mm apart, or teeth often obsolete; apex bluntly obtuse to rounded. Inflorescence simple, erect and 30–50 cm high, or on pendent stems curving upwards with the raceme erect; peduncle with a few sterile, broadly ovate bracts below the raceme, 2–3 cm apart. Raceme 4–10 × 4 cm, cylindric to subcapitate, ± laxly flowered; bracts 3–5 × 2–3 mm, ovate-acuminate, pinkish-brown; pedicels 10–15 mm long, bright orange-red. Perianth scarlet, tipped with green, c. 25 mm long and 5–6 mm in diameter across the ovary, cylindrical, tapering at the base; outer segments free to the base with tips slightly spreading. Stamens and stigma scarcely exserted. Capsule and seeds not seen.
